Sharks Face Tigers in Weekend Series Beginning Friday, Feb. 25 at 2 p.m. ET

LIVE STATS

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. –
The Nova Southeastern baseball team (7-3) has arrived in Livingston, Ala. to play the first road series of the season against the West Alabama Tigers (5-6). First pitch of the series is set for 2 p.m. ET on Friday, Feb. 25.

The Sharks enter the series with a 7-3 record and come off a disappointing road loss to the Florida Tech Panthers, 6-5. Against FIT, the Sharks put forth a steady offensive assault but put 16 runners on base through walks and hit batters. NSU stranded 14 runners on base but could not overcome the home team. The game ended on a sour note as the bases were loaded before the Sharks hit a batter, forcing the game-winning run home.

Despite the loss, NSU has shown a lot to get excited about as they have collected victories against Valdosta State, Barry and Northwood early in the season. The offense has looked incredible as four Shark batters are hitting over .300 and five have an on-base percentage above .400.

Haven Fitzsimmonds (Sr., Loxahatchee, Fla.) has been a steady force for the Sharks as he leads his team with a .440 average and a .533 on-base percentage. Areo Regoli (Jr., Homestead, Fla.) brings power and consistency to the lineup as he has amassed a .389 average, four home runs, and 14 RBI.

The Tigers are likely to face NSU's ace in Isaac Hicks (Sr., Fort Myers, Fla.). After finishing 9-0 last season, Hicks has had a great start to 2011, compiling a 1.96 ERA and a team-high 16 strikeouts over 18.1 innings pitched.

The Sharks will be facing off against a West Alabama team that has had mixed results this season. The Tigers started the season by dropping two out of three against Columbus St. before going 2-2 against both Georgia Southwestern and Lynn.

This will be the first meeting ever between West Alabama and NSU. So far this year the Sharks are 2-1 against the Gulf South Conference with all games coming at home against Valdosta State.
